Minimum 15 minutes-Maximum 20 minutes. 3-5 minutes / speaker (minimum 3’)
Each
group has to select and show part of a film, TV show or documentary OR cultural topic.
It can be in any language but it must have English
subtitles.
The part shown should be:
no longer than 4 minutes. Can be separated into 1-2 minute clips..
As a group
you need to
- explain
the cultural context of the film (NOT a summary
of the story)
- Explain the Situation (where?); Speakers (Who?); Purpose (Why?) and whether the purpose was achieved..
- state which dimensions/ polarities
you feel it represents; and how the participants show their preferences.
Each
student should analyse and discuss two dimensions, but should also be ready to take questions on the
other students’ chosen dimensions. If you want to receive MORE than
70-80 marks, then you will do at least 2 dimensions
There are 2 main parts to the presentation:
Part One: a detailed description of the cultural
context of the film clip, for example, this could include:
-
an Analysis of worldviews that are present as
well as some
-
Background on the characters, setting and
historical period.
-
Reference must be made to the film clip itself
when describing examples.
Part Two: An analysis of the scene chosen according
to the 12 dimensions. 2 dimensions / student!!
