Cultural Conflict and the Three Worldviews Presentation (20%) / Tips for a good grade

Cultural Conflict and the Three Worldviews Presentation (20%)

Do you want a “A” for your presentation which is worth 20% of your course?
Please read this and check the rubric document below.

For your presentation next week you must:-

2.     Bring a hardcopy of the PowerPoint
3.     Bring the PowerPoint on a USB
4.     Check on the marking rubric how you will get your grade
5.     Bring a marking rubric with the names and IDs of your group members filled in (I will give you the marking rubric tomorrow)

Many students still do not seem to really understand what they have to do o get a good grade. Please read the presentation brief again. Please remember that students in the same group can get different marks – one could get an F and the other an F.

  1. Select an example of either inter-cultural or intra-cultural conflict which you or someone you know has experienced. If you do not know of such an example you should find one in the media (eg: newspaper, TV, radio etc). It should involve one or more people from your own culture. Your teacher will show you some examples of the kind of topics that might be appropriate.
  1. Describe the conflict objectively, explaining the factors which led to the conflict and how it was or was not resolved.
  1. Now apply the worldview theory (innocence/guilt, honour/shame, power/fear) to your example and try to analyse each person’s perspective. Your analysis should demonstrate your understanding of all three worldviews. Remember to support your opinions with examples and evidence. As this is a group project, you will need to spend time discussing the example and the worldviews together to try to reach a consensus of opinion.
  1. Using your intercultural intelligence, recommend a better way to respond to the conflict.
You can use photos, images, diagrams, multimedia or simple slides to illustrate your presentation.

Here is an explanation of road rage in the UAE using the three world views.
